In 2012, a young 18 year old boy named Thomas Kelly lost his life to a random and unprovoked "one punch" attack on the streets of Sydney. He was a fine and noble young man with the promise of a worthy life before him.

In 2013, Thomas' parents Ralph and Kathy Kelly established the Thomas Kelly Youth Foundation, an organisation whose ideal is to curb the instances of alcohol fuelled violence on our streets. To date, The Thomas Kelly Youth Foundation have worked in conjunction with the City of Sydney to install CCTV cameras in those areas unprotected from violence as well as establishing a specially configured "safe space" - a bus that supplies water, transport information, medical care and phone access to any young person struggling to find their way home.

In February 2014, I released a cd titled "Heaven-Haven" comprising 10 works for string ensemble played by The Linden Quartet (from the Sydney Symphony Orchestra) as well as a selection of my piano pieces performed by Jeanell Carrigan in memory of Thomas.
