composed in 1828, in memory of the composer's brother Franz Schubert. The Requiem was performed the 3rd November 1828 in the presence of Franz who was beddridden on the 11th and died on the 19th November. Ferdinand's Requiem was the last musical performance which Franz attended; so it might the last music Franz listened to.
